AI-Integrated Art Exhibition Probes Ecology and Creativity at Plein Sud, With Limits
An exhibit links art, ecology, and artificial intelligence, inviting reflection.
What happened
At Plein Sud, an installation combines mycelium, copper, and artificial intelligence to offer an exploratory artistic experience. Students can observe, analyze, and interpret the works, aiming to develop critical thinking and question the boundaries between real and virtual. The program includes visits for different groups, teacher-support materials, and a free entry that requires advance booking.
Why it matters
The project engages both human thought and AI-enabled art, highlighting mixed gains and the need to assess each side, human and machine,on its own terms. It offers a framework for dialog about ecology and creativity without asserting universal outcomes.
The installation situates artistic practice at the intersection of ecological awareness and technology, inviting viewers to reflect on how AI can extend creative inquiry rather than replace human interpretation. Through guided observations and in-class materials, participants are encouraged to interrogate what counts as ‘real’ in a digitally-inflected artwork and how audiences interpret machine-assisted imagery.
The experience is designed to be accessible to a range of ages, with lessons and activities that support critical discussion. While the event is free, reservations are required, ensuring space for thoughtful engagement and follow-up conversations in schools or community spaces.
